CLINIQUE LABORATORIES' GUIDING DERMATOLOGISTS
In 1967, Dr. Norman Orentreich, a pioneering dermatologist, and Carol Phillips, then beauty editor of Vogue, were enlisted by the Estée Lauder Company to develop a groundbreaking new product line—one focused not just on makeup, but on skincare. Drawing on non-prescription skincare formulas he had created for his patients, Dr. Orentreich helped launch Clinique: the first dermatologist-developed, allergy-tested, 100% fragrance-free cosmetics brand. Clinique debuted at Saks Fifth Avenue in New York City in 1968. Today, Dr. David Orentreich and Dr. Catherine Orentreich continue their father’s legacy as the guiding dermatologists for Clinique Laboratories.
